Følgende citat stammer fra Dante Beretta, december 2016: "Besides being one of the older houses in Charlotte Amalia, it was the home of Alton Augustus Adams Sr. (1889-1987) who is one of our local island heroes. He was my grandmother’s cousin and I remember visiting with the Bandmaster at his house when I was a youth. Alton became the first black bandmaster in the U.S. Navy in June 1917 when he and his band were inducted into the Navy. He also composed ‘The Virgin Islands March’ which is considered the islands official anthem. My mother’s favorite memory of visiting Copenhagen was by chance hearing Alton’s compositions being played by a band while visiting Tivoli Gardens."
